Personal Statement
“My name is Godguide-me Cornelius. I’m a self-taught hyper-realistic artist from Nigeria. I am currently attending school to acquire knowledge of the theoretical aspects of art, improve my drawing skills, and obtain a certificate that recognizes me as a professional artist.
I aim to utilize my unique style of art to convey stories and shed light on historical and cultural narratives, particularly those related to African culture and traditions. These are stories that I believe need to be passed down from generation to generation and are often rooted in superstition and forgotten events that have occurred in various parts of Africa and the world. I want to document these stories through my art, and I’ve coined the term “historealism art” to describe my style.
I am enthusiastic about adding significant value to my art, as my ultimate goal is to engage with elders and gather their personal and meaningful stories. These are the stories they wish to see documented for future generations.”
