Sophia Goehner
Architect, Painter, Designer + Photographer
“My formative years were spent traveling, which exposed me to a wide range of cultures and sparked a lifelong interest in creative expression. I began with sketching and painting, later exploring black-and-white photography, and eventually studying both violin and piano. These early artistic explorations laid the groundwork for my formal education in Architecture at Cornell University, where I deepened my engagement with both analog and digital media. My work there often pushed the boundaries of conventional methodologies, integrating nuance and experimentation across various formats. I earned my diploma in February 2010 after completing a thesis that examined the intersection of agricultural production and architectural design. Today, I continue to create across disciplines—producing both 2D and 3D works in digital and analog formats, including paintings and photography.”

Education
I am a well-traveled and well-educated designer with expertise in Web, Graphic, and Architectural Design. I hold a five-year professional degree in Architecture from Cornell University and am a dual citizen of Germany and the United States.
Travel: Thanks to my bi-cultural background, I began traveling at an early age. Over the years, I have explored much of Europe, North America, North Africa, and Mexico. These experiences have given me a broad cultural perspective and a strong sense of global citizenship.
Professional Focus: My foundation in architecture, combined with independent studies in fine arts, graphic design, and web development, has led me to explore the intersections of 2D and 3D design. I often create media content, strategies, and visual solutions for online brands and the communities they serve—blending creativity with function across digital platforms.
Objectives
Belief & Motivation: I am driven by a belief in the transformative power of design and digital technology to reshape our political, social, and economic environments. Both architecture and digital media possess the capacity to influence culture and society. I see innovative design as a catalyst for positive change, fostering new opportunities for creative and social engagement.
Architectural + Creative Media Objectives: To merge digital technology with architectural thinking, producing design solutions that reflect current trends in digital and spatial representation. I aim to develop work that bridges the gap between physical environments and digital experiences.
Design Objectives: To collaborate with local designers, makers, and developers in creating forward-thinking design solutions rooted in sustainability, innovation, and progressive design principles.
